How do you use a plumbing snake to unclog drain pipe?
The simplest type is a coiled spring steel cable with one end slightly bigger. Feed the big end into the drain twisting it as you put it in. At some point, you will come up against the clog. Screw the cable into the clog and pull it back out of the drain. The majority of clogs are hair related. You will pull out what looks like a wet mouse. Sometimes when you are feeding the cable in it feels like it hits something. This may just be a bend in the pipe. Push and turn the cable and it should go past the bend. If the clog is grease related, just going through the clog may be enough to open the drain and then use a chemical cleaner to finish the job.

How do you know that the main drain is plugged? When was the last time that you back washed or cleaned the filter? If there is no flow at the main drain - check to see if a va…lve has been closed or adjust the variflow valve in the skimmer - located at the bottom of the skimmer- if you have that type of skimmer. Also check the pump basket - it may be full of debris.k

This may seem as a very odd answer, but technically, this horse type hair is called hemp in South Africa. It is used to join two metal pipes together to make a water or leak t…ight proof joint. The reasoning for it being called hemp and not another name is unknown and its orgins are also unknown. In the US, cast iron pipes, and this method of sealing them, has virtually disappeared, along with plumbers with the skill to do it. Although made from hemp, we call the rope/tar material oakum.
How do you unclog a washing machine drain pipe Have used a drain snake already and the first time it worked fine but it was clogged again and now it drains really slow. What do you do to fix it?
You did not clear the entire clog the first time, which is why it became clogged again so soon. Try the snake again but afterward flush the drain with really hot water. You ma…y be able to use commercial clog cleaners...but before you go to that expense (and environmentally damaging option) try the flushing with hot water and/or using some baking soda and vinegar. Good Luck!
