How does the mosqutio repellant work?
Mosquito's feed on protein from the blood. They are attracted to the smell of skin and exhaled carbon dioxide. The bug spray masks the smell of the skin and carbon dioxide making you an unappealing meal.

Ultrasonic Repellers . No, ultrasonic mosquito repellers do not work. Extensive tests have been run on them.. The facts is, mosquitoes don't even have ears.. ... i agree they dont work but mosquitoes can defenetly hear. they dont have ears as such but they have complex hearing organs.
How does the liquidator mosquito repellent work as the refill bottle has a graphite rod at the center and the bottle is filled up with a liquid?
Answer . The Liquidator mosquito repellent has a graphite rod in the middle and the bottle is filled with the repellent. The repellent consist of the chemical which when come in the contact of the heated rod produce fumes which disable the sensors of the mosquitos. Actually Mosquito's has sensor…s which enables them to detect the humans or any other animal by the oudor, heat released by the body, movement of the animal and there is one more thing the carbon dioxide exhale by the humans and the other animals. The fumes produced by the lepellent block these sensors and that is why we can see the mosquitos flying in the room but they can't bite you. ANSWER: . It works on two levels. The first being it masks the carbon dioxide that is emitted from your skin that the mosquitos are attracted to in the first place. The second, is that there is a chemical called deet in most repellants that is an irritant when the mosquito lands on your skin for …a taste. (MORE)
Answer . There are many natural products you can buy and one is 'Sergaents Nature's Guardian. You can also go to a large Health Food Store and ask their advice.. Putting a small amount of crushed garlic or (no odor garlic oil) into your dog or cat's food is also said to repel fleas. When giving …the oil please check with your vet to be sure how much you should give your dog or cat. The old saying 'if you have a cat, you have fleas' is true. Still, just having a dog that is out in the backyard off and on is enough to bring fleas indoors. People also bring fleas into the home! If someone is cutting their lawn they will often bring in fleas without knowing it.. Fleas love the corners of rooms so every day vacuuming is a MUST and get in those corners as well as vacuuming carpets, mats, under the cushions of sofas and the sofas.. I use a piece off a flea collar in my vacuum bag and you can also do this with a natural flea collars. It is best to use a spray or oil put between the dog or cat's shoulder blades rather than a flea collar of any sort. Flea collars can often cause irritation around the neck of pets. (MORE)
My experience with electronic pest repellents is that they do work. I have used them to keep possums and rabbits out of vegetable patches, birds and also kangaroos out of orchards. They emit a sonic type frequency that the target animal doesn't like, it doesn't cause them any harm or to humans ei…ther. The noise is undetectable to humans. Be Happy, Barry (MORE)
Answer . The Riddex pest repeller produces high-frequency sound waves that are harmless to humans and pets (except rodents), but which are heard by insects and rodents and are supposed to drive them away.. This may sound good in theory, but it doesn't work in practice. At best, electronic pest r…epellers may work for a few hours or days, but they apparently have no long-term effect on pests. Also, many people claim that they can hear a whining and/or buzzing noise made by the repellers.. After numerous complaints, the company that produces Riddex agreed with the FTC to not make certain claims as to their product's effectiveness. You can read the agreement on the FTC site:. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2003/07/global.shtm (MORE)
Emission of high-frequency sounds whose cycles are digitized to random variations and whose pitches discourage cockroaches, mice, and rats from feeding and nesting in attics and garages is the way in which the Ultrasound pest repeller works. Efficacy nevertheless requires an absence or paucity of fu…rniture and outlets as well as a lack of such domesticated animals as chinchillas, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, minks, and tarantulas whose behavior and hearing will be impacted. Unfortunately, yes, you can die from a mosquito bite. Mosquitos can carry a number of infectious diseases. In the United States, it is not as common, but in other countries, it is a major issue that kills millions. Mosquitoes can carry diseases such as Malaria, West Nile Virus, Yellow Fever, D…engue Fever, etc., but again, is much less common in the United States than other countries. (MORE)
I've read that researchers conclude ultrasonic devices do not work.. I do have personal experience with sonic devices however. Sonic devices send out a chatter that mimics a rodents distress call. These sounds are audible to the human ear also.. They don't kill the rodent but for my experience wil…l drive them to another area. The one I purchased has a range of about 30 feet in every direction, so it would take multiple units to clear a large area of your lawn.. Is you're protecting a small area of lawn or a small flower garden it would probably work okay. (MORE)
Human interactiveness, inappropriate target and pastexpiration date are three reasons why insect repellents donot work. The production in question may be rendered ineffective bythe expiration of its effectiveness or by the wearer'sbio-chemistry or it may be intended to control other pests.
some of them do but cold kills them and you have to wash your sheets in hot water
Unfortunately there are no scientific studies to confirm or disprove these anecdotal claims, though laboratory tests have shown that standard chemical-based mosquito repellents are generally more effective and longer-lasting than botanical-based alternatives (and Listerine Antiseptic mouthwash would… have to be counted among the latter).. The primary active ingredient in Listerine is eucalyptol, a derivative of eucalyptus oil, which in turn is commonly used in botanical repellents. According to various clinical studies it actually does repel mosquitoes. However, the eucalyptus-based compounds tested in these studies contained much higher concentrations of the essential oil than that found in Listerine Antiseptic -- 40% to 75% concentrations as opposed to Listerine's .092% -- and were applied topically, not simply sprayed in the air or on surrounding objects. Given Listerine's extremely low eucalyptol content, it's doubtful the product would function very effectively as a repellent -- not for long, at any rate -- even if applied directly to the skin.. The claim that Listerine sprayed around door and window frames actually killed mosquitoes is even more dubious. Listerine consists mostly of water and alcohol, which means it would evaporate quickly whenever and wherever it is sprayed. I have no doubt that drenching mosquitoes with the stuff would kill a significant number of them, but there is little reason to suppose that spraying it on hard surfaces would have any lingering effect. They adapt to it and realize the noise is not a threat. they even tried alternating frequencies but once they realize all the frequencies are only an annoyance they are ineffective too. it just takes longer.
From a personal use, yes it works well. From a proven scientific approach, it is the only "natural" insect repellant in the U.S. that has been lab tested and certified to work. The Carroll-Loye school at UCLA Davis has tested and published the results. The only "off FIFRA list" product known to be e…ffective for over 4 hours. (MORE)
The short answer is that snake repellents do not work. The products depend on the desperation of truly scared home owners who are willing to try almost anything to get rid of a snake or snakes on their property. The ingredients they contain have no effect on snakes at all, and even if they did, the …first rain would wash them away. For details see: http://tinyurl.com/nmjjw2 (MORE)

No, pest repellers do not work beyond a narrowly defined target area but yes, they do work within their identified range. They nevertheless will be particularly effective in conjunction with row covers and sticky traps.
hello.. . i am naresh kumar from india..my problem is that i want a mosquito repeller circuit that really works..i am an electronics person but i have tried all the circuits in google, but none ofthem are able to repel the mosquitos... can i get a perfect circuit that works/repels the mosquitos? a…lso all the circuits mention that the circuits oscillate at 10khz..but the female mosquitos actually are repelled by freq above 30khz..which is ultrasonic and we dont hear the sound..all the circuits in the net are audible indicating that they are between 30 to 30000 cycles whcih is audible ...why are these circuits presented in net when they dont work?. pls clarify and reply... regards. naresh (MORE)
I never heard of any proven fact that ultrasonic sound as an insect repellent. Actually, when I played a frequency that they said 'repell mosquitoes' the mosquitoes went even close! I think maybe, because male mosquitoes have antennae that detects the female sound, they say.....
Water can be used as a repellent for most animals. It will not work on bugs. Havahart makes a product that works off of your garden hose. When it senses movement, it releases a stream of water that will drive away all animals. Water is an effective repellent.
In my experience they absolutely do work. I moved into my current apartment 3 1/2 years ago. After moving in and inspecting it closer there were clear signs there had been a roach infestation before i had moved in (lots of roach poop in between cracks in the kitchen, between the walls and cupboards)… I hoped that it had been taken care of after the previous tenants moved out but sure enough when the first summer rolled around i was overrun by roaches! I tried everything i could think of for over two years, all the bombs, powders and sprays that i could get my hands on. Honestly it was only out of desperation that i tried the ultrasonic bug repeller, it was really a last ditch effort. I had decided if these didn't work i would have to move out. But within a couple days i noticed no visible roaches. I could walk into the kitchen at night, turn on the light and not see a bug scampering across the floor. I've had them for about 1 1/2 years and they have kept the bugs at bay. In that time i have seen less than 10 roaches. I use two now, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. I'm going to invest in a couple more this summer to hopefully bring the number of roach sightings down to zero for good. And all of them will have cost me about $50. So i would definitely suggest trying them. (MORE)
Max Repels will not work as long as the wild Pokémon is of a higher level than your current lead Pokémon, this also includes if the levels match. Wild Pokémon must be of a level lower than your lead Pokémon in order for an active Max Repel to be effective.
High frequency works best to repel mice. The unit should emit anon-repetitive pattern in order to repel the rodents.
Riddex Pro pest repellant does work in some instances, commonly onmice. The repellant doesn't work as well on roaches.
They don't. If they do, results will only be short term. Just a question you are giving this person an answer and you tell them in no uncertain terms "they don't." but then follow up with 'If they do" ? is this your expert answer? or did you even test out your answer before posting it? I have test…ed them out and have had great results in chasing away critters as soon as they are plugged in! Now to answer your question about how they work, it is an ultrasonic frequency that is emitted that rodents do not like, much like a dog whistle. keep it plugged in and no rodents, unplug them and no more dog whistle to keep them away! simple as that! To work effectively, you must have a Pokemon in the lead who is stronger than the surrounding Pokemon. A Lv. 60 will pass you anywhere.
It doesn't. The FTC has info on these scams at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2001/05/fyi0128.shtm. Enter "Pest Repeller" in the FTC search window for more info.
Ornamental ponds tend to become mosquito breeding grounds. You can keep the mosquito larvae population under control by stocking the pond with bright, exotic fish or with less exotic small native fish which are not as susceptible to bird predation. Another option would be adding a pump to agitate th…e water - mosquitoes will not breed in moving water. (MORE)
yes they do. if you cook a potato without poking holes in it with a fork before hand, then it'll explode in your oven.
No, Snake Repellents do not work. In general snake repellents are made up of ingredients that strike humans as powerful or just plain stinky. Many have napthalene as a main ingedient - the same ingedient that makes mothballs stink. But napthalene is not approved to be used outdoors to repel snakes, …and there is no evidence or reason to think it works anyway. The one university study that purveyors of these snake oils point to has been shown to be poorly designed and proves nothing. Any substance one puts on their lawn and garden to repel snakes would just be washed away with the first dew or rain anyway. For a better understanding of ways to get rid of snakes see; http://tinyurl.com/snake-repellents (MORE)
I make small ufo's in copper, I just finished one , using 2 neo. magnets repelling each other, causeing one edge of the ship to hover upward, while the other end is hinged, will they repel for years or not. I don't want it coming back in the future.
Although egg shells work as a repellent against other insects theyhave not worked well on ants. The key to getting rid of ants isdestroying the colony and killing the queen.
Studies have proven that ultrasonic sound does not reverberate. This means that once the ultrasonic sound hits a surface, itdisappears. Any animal that is living in any kind of crevice, suchas a bat, they won't even hear the sound at all. . ADDED. That's not correct: you have misunderstood "the stud…ies"and the basics of sound. Ultrasound will not normally give rise toreverberation because as its frequency rises its absorption lossesthrough the air rise, on top of the attenuation by distance. Somesurfaces will absorb sound, but generally ultrasound is easilyreflected from any suitable surface, and the bat will hear a soundwithin its own hearing frequency-range. This is how bats navigateand hunt! (MORE)
Sometimes better, there are several "green" sprays-ECOPCOACU for example that kill many bugs faster than their chemical counterparts.
No, mosquito repellents do not repel. They instead block the mosquito's sensors so they are not aware that you are there, the repellent basically hides you from the insect.
Some may work short term but how long depends on the pest. They are more effective for mammals than insects, but not for long. That is why pest companies don't use them. If they worked, they would sell them to you-trust me.
They have all done poorly in long term testing. I am surprised they are still for sale. many found out the hard way. Sorry, but I would n't recommend getting any of these types of pest repellants.
No, don't buy any of the electronic repellers. Although some provide short term benefits, none has been proven thus far to work long term. Many of the big pest cos. have already tried them & no one is using them.
Yes they do - I have one myself. I'll tell you how they work. Mice, insects and other critters haveextremely sensitive hearing and can hear sounds beyond 20,000Hertz. Ultrasonic Pest Repellers exploit this biologicalcharacteristic and use this against the pests. This drives thepests crazy and they …leave your home, or whatever place you wantthem to leave. (MORE)
water repellent forms a smooth coating over the tiny holes in fabric. the coating is so smooth that the gaps in it are smaller than water molecules. because the water molecules cannot pass through the protective coating, they stay on the surface where they can be easily wiped away.
No, baby oil is not going to work as a mosquito repellent. This isbecause baby oil contains a great scent. Mosquitoes are naturallyattracted to sweet scents. You will end up attracting moremosquitoes if you use baby oil.
The Evergreen Superband Insect Repelling wristbands have a strongcitronella scent. The scent works to repel insects when worn on theankle or wrist and they work for many people. Reviews of theproduct indicate they work for a few hours and longer.
\n. yes it stop working after the first ear of purchase, the mice plays tags around it.
Most mosquito repellents will not work on bees. In fact, there arecertain fragrances in some mosquito repellents that will actuallyattract bees.
Because, water is necessary for theirs life cycle. The eggs of the mosquitos should be deposited on the water by the female, then they explode and the larvas can feed and grow in water, later they transform near the surface of the water, just before they be adult mosquitos, with wings an all, so is… common find them near all corposes of water, mostly on quiet water, like the lakes have. mosquito have 47 teeth well i explan you They hav proboscis , the flexible cutting instruments, They are also called teeth. The proboscis on a mosquito is actually a complicated structure, which has six main parts, 4 areas of sharp, flexible cutting instruments (teeth), and two tubes; one which… draws blood from the host and the other other which delivers an anti-clotting enzyme to the wound. The teeth are used to cut into the skin and produce an increased amount of blood flow, certainly more than a simple needle injection.
