It is right in the middle of the world connecting Europe and Asia. Answer Turkey is a bridge between Asia and Europe. It is surroundedby the Mediterranean Sea, Aegean Sea, Sea of Marmara and he BlackSea. Turkey also borders Greece, Bulgaria, Iran, Iraq, Syria,Armenia, Russia, and Georgia and the cap…ital of Turkey is Ankara, Turkey. Geographically, the border between Asia and Europe is theBosphorus, a strait of water that joins the Mediterranean Sea tothe Black Sea. This runs right through the city of Istanbul. Therefore, both Istanbul and the whole nation of Turkey are both inAsia and Europe. The majority is actually in Asia. But politically, Modern Turkey considers itself to be an activeEuropean Nation. It has applied for membership of the EuropeanUnion and is a member of NATO. It's football (soccer) team play inthe European qualifying of World Cup and European trophies. It is amember of UEFA. Turkey also takes part in the annual Eurovision song contest. Historically, Turkey is much more of an Asian country. It was partof the cradle of civilization where the first cities appeared (making it much like neighboring Iraq and Iran). It was known inantiquity as Asia Minor. But its colonization by the Ancient Greeksbrought it into the European sphere of influence. The establishmentof Byzantium (Constantinople, now Istanbul) as the second city ofthe Roman Empire made it very European. The capture of the city bythe Ottoman Empire (Asian Arabs) brought it back into Asia. The overthrow of greek invaders in the early 20th Century by thefollowers of Kemal Attaturk allowed Turkey to develop as anemerging democracy and has since, becoming increasingly allied toEurope. Officially Belize is considered to be an English speaking country. However, as the Latino population in Belize continues to grow, a lot of Spanish along with Creole can be heard throughout the country. In all honesty, Belize is a huge melting pot of many races. therefore one would hear many language…s spoken in Belize. All groups speak Creole (Similar to Jamaicans) to communicate with each other. In certain Parts of Belize you need to know at-least some Spanish because that is the mother tongue of a lot of people. Despite all of this, Belize remains the only English speaking country in Central America, not the Caribbean. Places such as Belize City would have more in common with the islands of the Caribbean. But as you move north, west, and even south, these parts of Belize have more in common with the rest of Latin America. You get two cultures in 1 country! (MORE)
