Different people have different opinions but Friesians are well known for their beauty. Friesians are known for beauty, but Quarter Horses are also beautiful. but i have to agree with him/her ^. Friesian horses are the most beautiful [improved to my answer] I love and lease a quarter horse, …they are beautiful. But, for me I have to say mustangs. They are free and are beautiful. Wonderful. Unique. So many things, and to me, they are the most beautiful. This clearly shows that is depends on how you think and the person thinks. :) (MORE)
In my opinion, i would definitely say the Quarter Horse. Because this breed is SO versatile, it can be ridden as a western pleasure horse, trail horse, roping/other western eventing sports, and also in English for jumping smaller fences and for English ground work. It is just a great all-around hors…e. it is a very dependable breed and has a great all-around disposition. Of course there are other breeds that are most useful for you depending on your riding discipline. For English riders the thoroughbred is the best all-around breed because of its versatility in the English discipline. (MORE)
Im really big into horses and I really don't think its always the breed that's expensive. the value of a horse can very depending on their training, confirmation and their bloodlines. I have noticed many people will but the horses with great bloodlines (Zippos Pine Bar) (sorry if I spelled the name …wrong) It is the case however that some breeds may be more valued or expensive due to their rarity, either their rarity to a certsin part of the world or their rarity in general. I have noticed that Gypsy Vanners are priced quite high in America. Im not sure about around the world but I know they are price quite high here. I guess its all about which horse is better and how much you yourself think the horses are worth. There are some TBs, QHs, Paints and Friesains that are sold on craigslist for meerly $500 because they are not trained. But then you can price a champion reining horse, barrel racer jumper or racer at hundres of thousands of dollars. I guess its not the breed persay but more on how much training, and how good they are in the show ring or racetrack. :) (MORE)
There are breeds with very few horses still living, but that's not necessarily a measure of popularity. I don't know that anyone has determined what the least popular breed of horse is.

Texas is a big horse state. I doubt that there was ever a time when it was not popular. But horse breeding in Texas really boomed with the King Ranch. This was the birthplace of the American Quarter Horse. The King Ranch is still in operation along with hundreds of others all over the state.
The top 5, based on numbers, would be the Quarter Horse, American Paint, Arabian, Thoroughbred, Appaloosa. In fact the Quarter Horse is the most popular breed in the world.

many people have many different opinions but in my experience paints, appaloosas, quarter horses, pintos, welsh ponies, thoroughbreds, and Arabians are most popular among people in my area but it depends on what type of riding you do.
The answer to this question is not an exact science. Every horse has its own personality. But I hope that this helps a little. Horses are grouped into three different "bloods" -Hot bloods. -Warm bloods. -Cold bloods. Now hot bloods are known for being energetic and competitive. Energetic …is not a bad thing to have in a horse. But its not really for the beginner. Warm bloods are quite often used for trail riding. And there "attitude" can very by breed or just by individual. Its hard to tell sometimes. And finally the cold bloods. These horses are usually calm, -and very strong. They are used mostly for farming. And do a very good job at it. (I personally remember this by- "hot is hot and cool is laid back.") As to any one breed its hard to say. But the two that have stuck out for me are: The Gypsy horse -and- the donkey (both well known for there exceptional behavior with children!) (MORE)

In medieval England, horses were not classified by breed but by the kind of work they could do. Horses were called palfreys, rounceys, hunters, chargers, draught-horses, pack-horses and farm-horses. The different functions were reflected in widely differing prices - a farm horse in the late 12th …century was priced at 40 silver pence, while a knight's charger could cost anything from 360 pence to 10 marks (1,600 pence). Palfreys were ordinary, docile riding-horses for general use; they were specifically chosen for their even, steady, comfortable ride and were often ridden by wealthy women. Rounceys were more all-purpose horses with a tolerance for different kinds of work, including battle, pack-horse and general riding. Hunters were fast, rugged and hardy, not easily scared and prepared to dive into any kind of terrain without flinching. Chargers were the most expensive, often decorated with gilt bronze ornaments, coloured leather harness and the finest saddle. They were tended by teams of grooms and given the best fodder and care. Farm horses and those used for transporting goods were generally small, tough, steady and patient. (MORE)

Bascule is the horses ability to 'round up' over a jump. No one breed is any better at it than another, it is all in the individual horses own jumping style and how it was trained.
